Joining the Vancouver Fiddle Orchestra

The Orchestra members are all amateur musicians with abilities from intermediate to advanced who have a dedicated interest in playing live music for Scottish Country dances, ballroom and concert venues whilst improving musicianship and having fun.

The Orchestra features its fiddlers but a variety of instruments are welcome, among them: cello, flute, bass and accordion. Interested musicians are invited to visit and play at any regular Orchestra practice. To join, the player must attend three practices and then pay a one-time membership fee of $125 which includes a band book containing several hundred songs.

The Orchestra is a non-profit group. Income from performances are used to upgrade audio equipment, to pay for rehearsal space, for copying of music and creation of set books for new members, for occasional meals or travel costs and out of pocket expenses.

Practices are held year round on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at St Catherines Anglican Church 1058 Ridgewood in North Vancouver's Edgemont Village. Extra rehearsals may be occasionally scheduled.
